Lets face it, Tineye which was once our best hope for spotting art theft has become one of the worst image search engines available. When results are given there is only ever 2 or 3 links and it's a gamble to even if they will work or if the link is dead. Lets also not forget the lovely "you have reached your max search for today" that goes across your entire IP address so it's not like you can jump to another computer and continue. You hit that max.. you're done.

Over the past year three (that i know of) image search engines have surfaced that out shine Tineye 100%. Because not many people know of these sites i am going to list them out in the blog so that people will no longer be relying completely on the fading Tineye.

For random images and photographs there is the new Google image search extension are avalible for both FireFox and Google Chrome. [link] at step 4 and it will give you the extensions)

this one is great for finding artwork and photographs. Though NEVER try and link the search result page you will end up with a code a mile long if you do. If the search doesn't find specific sites it also will show all images in a little bar that match the color and general look which sometimes you can find the unedited or bigger version there.

:bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue:

SauceNAO is pretty much 100% pixiv only, though this one tends to be a little temperamental and doesn't always find artwork that actually is on the website.

[link] in order to use this website you either
A) have to save the image to your hard drive and upload it right to the website (pain in the ass)
B) Open strictly the image in a new window and then load the link through the advanced system
C) get an extension for firefox or google chrome.

When this site does work it will show you the artwork right next to the one you are looking for and give you the ID number of the work and the artist name for which it is loaded to.

REMEMBER  THIS IS 100% PIXIV ONLY DON'T EXPECT TO FIND GAME ART OR SHIT THERE

:bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletblue:

IQDB is a all in one Anime search engine this one is our bread and butter for anything anime as this search engine pulls from MANY different anime websites.

This one will give multiple different results from different sites and many times through link chasing you can find Pixiv links that SauceNAO did not find.

[link] more you have the same options as SauceNAO on how to check for work.

Now for those of you who are like me and already use ten billion tabs or computer slows down with more then 3 tabs open for google chrome users there is a beautiful extension that has all 4 search engines under one link that you simply right click on the a picture and you can select from either Tineye, Google, SauceNAO or IQDB

[link]

I LOVE that one, it's my baby and has made my life so much simpler. Now i do not know if there is a firefox extension like this.. so you might have to do the individual extension.

So now that this is up I no longer want to see "Tineye can't find it!" because we have more then just tineye now.

(if this double posts.. it's my Internets fault)

Tineye never seemed to be really efficient unless there were a ton of the same pic online. Because I have my art on so many different sites, and when I search for my own worsk it comes up with zero hits or maybe one.

mhm. That might be because google is a huge company - they can spend a lot more money on research for perfecting the search algorithms used there. But most of the time I use my brain for finding originals .. combining and so on.

My computer expert yanked my TinEye, saying it screws up computers. Depending. Guess that's a matter of opinion. My problem was with overload of images, not a virus or TinEye. :shrug:
DA has been a dink with my IE too. (that was a random thought) :crash: Getting worse too. (they'll fix it. I hope. DA and IE never liked each other)

Well DA has always hated IE. (Not giving it up. I hate Chrome) but FF I like. (Opera crashed.)
I really don't miss TinEye that much anyway. I've pretty much given up on art theft reporting. it's like this site is working against us. :( It might end up being called THIEVIANTART :laughing:
